Just one hour drive from Hyeres French language school

Cannes 2007 film festival takes place end of May and Elfca students are always quite fascinated by the event. Very often, they choose to share rental cars and drive to Cannes in the afternoon or at week-end to “breathe the festival atmosphere”, applaude some of the actors and actresses and sometimes have a good laugh at the many eccentricities performed by the stars; another way to learn French in France!

No Chateauvallon for French language school on the Riviera

Students of French language school in the South of France deprived of Hendrix

When the students heard that Barbara Hendrix would perform at Chateauvallon on 6th of June, quite a few of them decided to seize the opportunity to discover the great Swedish-American  singer. A special evening and quite a different performance as the Diva would put aside her usual classic repertory to interpret some of the most famous jazz and blues tunes. Alas, the concert was sold out, much to the disappointment of the students of Elfca French language school in Provence.

US groups loyal to French language school on the Riviera

Americans who learn French in France love the South

End of May the first US groups arrived at French language school as they do every year. In spite of the economy turmoil, they were many, and all eager to communicate, and all enthusiastic and cheerful! They took part to many excursions and were delighted to discover as different places as Grand Canyon du Verdon, Saint-Tropez, the Calanques of Cassis, Marseilles, and appreciated particularly the wine tasting session in La Maison des Vins des Cotes de Provence des Arcs. Many promised to come again next year, which really pleased their teachers at French language school on the Riviera.

Too much to do in July for students at French language school

Learners of French on the Riviera have much fun

“Almost every evening there’s something happening!” rejoiced Swiss student. And it’s true that summer always brings extra-animation in the lovely town of Hyeres. It all started with free concerts and strolling brass bands, street theatre etc, downtown, at Hyeres port, at L’Ayguade village and Giens peninsula, and continued with apero-concerts in the medieval quarters and public dances on Place Clemenceau. All of no consequence of course on the students’morning concentration at Elfca French language school on the Cote d’Azur!

Great fireworks for learners of French in France

14th July celebrated by students at French language school on the Riviera

The town of Hyeres duly celebrated Bastille Day, and the festivities were split into two days, so that the fete lasted longer. On 13th July, superb fireworks were let off at Hyeres port, followed by a musical show. And on the 14th, the Army and the Navy marched past with military bands, flown over by helicopters, and followed by the local fire brigades, who as usual got the most enthusiastic ovations and applause, which somehow surprised the participants to French language programme in the South of France.

Cotes de Provence praised by students of French on the Riviera

Learners of French in France enjoy “Les Vignades”

In spite of a strong mistral, tourists and locals were present at the 20th Vignades in Town centre, Saturday 17th July, to try the different wines proposed by more than 30 vineyards. The process is simple: you buy a glass for 1.50 euros and then you try as many wines as you like, with no limits but your own. Remarkably enough, most people were quite reasonable, and particularly Elfca’s participants to French immersion programme on the Cote d’Azur.
